These days more people access the internet from a smartphone than from a desktop computer. We use apps to check the weather, transport, banking, book cinema or theatre tickets, plan holidays and so much more.

In this half day workshop you'll learn practical tips to ensure your app can be used by anyone and everyone.

Learning outcomes

In this course you will learn:

  • Introduction to accessibility – who benefits and how
  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) – requirements for mobile apps
  • Assistive technologies and strategies - how people with disabilities use apps
  • Screen readers - what they are and how to use them
  • Accessible tap and swipe gesturing, use of colour, content resizing
  • Multimedia needs
  • Accessibility testing techniques

You'll also get:

  • Mobile app accessibility testing tools and resources
  • Mobile accessibility checklist

We'll test some apps together and then you'll run your own tests on either Apple iOS or Android apps.

Prior knowledge

Attendees for this course are likely to be QA Testers and iOS or Android app developers.
